Youth Worker
Position Requirements
Youth workers are responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the programs for Kidz Harbor. They ensure the needs of the children in care are being met in accordance with the policy and procedure of the program as well as the TDFPS minimum standards for basic care programs. They provide for goal directed interventions to stabilize children in transition.
Position Requirements
· At least 21 years of age
· High school diploma or GED (documentation required)
· Must pass the background check for felonies and misdemeanors
· Must pass drug screening
· Must have a current TB test prior to having contact with residents
· Must be willing to participate in First Aid and CPR training and certification
· Must be willing to participate in behavior intervention and physical restraint training
· Must be willing to participate in psychotropic medication training
Position Responsibilities
· Provide education and role modeling for proper hygiene habits and social skills
· Keep informed of the needs of children in care and be able to provide consistency in programming
· Participate in the exchange of information at each shift change
· Attend and actively participate in all team and other staff meetings as directed
· Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of children as needed
· Ensure compliance with Kidz Harbor policies and procedures
· Assist children with basic needs such as feeding, hygiene, bedtime and room clean up
· Supervise children at all activities
· Supervise children and ensure they are safe from abuse and neglect
· All other duties as assigned including documentation of daily activities and events
